About the Review Implementation Group

Remit

The purpose of the group is to oversee the actioning of the 91¸£ÀûÉç Slavery and Colonialism Legacy Review report recommendations. This requires

  • creating a prioritised delivery plan to include expected costs and timescales for each recommendation
  • liaising with a variety of stakeholders to make sure there are
    • positive community impacts
    • effective use of resources
    • sharing of expertise and information
  • identifying funds and resources to implement the delivery plan
  • regular reporting to Council’s Policy and Sustainability Committee
  • consulting with people and organisation in 91¸£ÀûÉç as required
  • regular communication of the group's activities.

Outputs

The anticipated outputs are

  • a series of projects to make sure the ESCLR recommendations are developed into achievable, impactful and measurable actions.
  • annual progress reports to Council
  • a final report summarising the group’s achievements.

Inaugral meeting

At the first meeting of the group on 20 October 2023:

  • the members were formally introduced to each other
  • agreed values and behaviours to guide their work going forwards
  • agreed terms of reference
  • discussions were initiated about assigning a lead and support member to take forward each of the recommendations. The pairs of members will work up costed proposals for relevant projects
  • members had workshops to develop creative ideas for project delivery
  • ideas were discussed on how to make sure there will be involvement from
    • wider public
    • ESCLR Supporters' Network
    • other stakeholder
    • potential partners.
